About
Why this guide exists
The LUMC Data Competence Center (DCC) supports LUMC researchers in developing and managing research software. For example, we are often asked questions such as how to choose a license, why a project needs more than one maintainer, what makes software citable, or how to plan for the day the postdoc leaves. This guide collects that advice in one navigable place, so that it is available to everyone at the LUMC and other institutions.
It is designed to be used alongside our other resources: SciWiz, the LUMC instance of the tool that provides the Software Management Plan (SMP) writing wizard and export functionalities, the LUMC FAIR Research Software Training website, and LUMC Research Software Stewardship (internal), which is the entry point for research software support at the LUMC and links back to this guide.
This guide is a living document. Research software practices change, tools come and go, and these pages are updated as they do.
